I am interested in different manners of retelling the ordinary. For this assignment I wanted to record repetitive gestures carried out in the kitchen by using found objects as conductive materials to create electronic circuits. These circuits serve to reveal patterns that emerge from individual tasks (stirring, chopping, cleaning, etc.) Houseshold objects work together as switches to turn on piezo buzzers (initially tested with LEDs). Sound reveals rhythms & patterns involved in each task.
Each switch is based on the following circuit, a 9V battery, with +/- leads going to LED/piezo buzzers. The positive lead is split between two implements/objects. When these objects meet the circuit is complete. For example, a leaky faucet acts as a switch in circuit one. Current flows through the circuit when a droplet momentarily links two wires together.
