Soul in a Box

Soul in a Box

With the Cadavre Exquis objective in mind, a â??corpseâ? composed of a collection of images or objects, I wanted to explore the idea of creating an ever-changing soul for the cadavre. If we were to take the word Cadavre Exquis in a literal sense then the final composition of the new body would be quite monstrous, like Frankenstein. But what these creations do not contain is a soul, an essence or a human spirit because they are only a compilation of body parts. In order for our new creation to feel more human I have created a soul in a box. Because a soul is not tangible it is its essence that is held in the box. The soul itself cannot be held but can be seen by red pulsing lights; the pulses resemble a heart beat.

The arduino is already programmed to pulse by itself but as the arduino receives a new packet from its neighboring arduino the soulâ??s essence (the red lights) will create a new spirit for the new cadavre. For each new packet my arduino receives there will be a new spirit created. When the soul is closed/shut off by the potentiometer the packet is modified and then sent off to the next arduino.
